Objective
Get a whole room talking about a real experience in minutes, with nobody afraid of saying the wrong thing.
When to use it
To open a workshop, a kick-off or an offsite around a real subject — an onboarding, a service, a customer journey — when the room needs to warm up fast.
Outcome
A live wall of the room's worst ideas, an image of the nightmare it designed together, and a room that is laughing and ready to work.
Preparation
Create the session a few days ahead, write the brief and rehearse it end to end on the test bench. On the day: a projector, a laptop for the console, and the room's own phones.
Steps
- 1
Open the room3 min
Put the live view on the projector. Everybody scans the QR code, gives a first name and posts a photo.
- 2
Share the brief3 min
Say what the room is designing, in a sentence or two, from the console.
- 3
Collect the worst8 min
The wall opens and fills live. Raise the stakes with challenges while the room writes.
- 4
Show the nightmare3 min
The room's worst ideas are drawn as one image, on the big screen.
- 5
Take it from there15 min
The rest of the session is run from the host console, at your pace. The console walks you through it.
Facilitator tips
- Rehearse on the test bench with fake people and fake ideas, then clear it before the room arrives.
- The projector shows /live/CODE; your laptop keeps the console. Never share the console screen.
- Every step is yours to press. Move on when the room is ready, not when a timer says so.
- Everybody posts a face — say so up front, and the join goes faster.
